Who you’ll be working with

Claire England full length portrait.jpg

In 2019, I moved to Brighton after 18 years working in creative and content in Dubai - including roles as Associate Publisher at Explorer Publishing and Managing Director at John Brown Media, UAE. I’m passionate about giving women the opportunity to succeed, and I’m actively involved in many charity challenges and events.

Achievements

Leader of the Year

As MD of John Brown UAE I received the Dentsu Aegis Network Leader of the Year award in 2016, when only two of the 19 general managers were women. I achieved this award by not only having the highest profit margin of the group but also the lowest staff attrition rates.

Guest Speaker

I’m a confident presenter, networker and public speaker, having presented at events like Dubai International Financial Centre Week and Arab Luxury World. I’ve also been a guest speaker on Dubai Eye’s The Editors radio show, and represented Explorer Publishing at events and on local TV.

GLOW Campaigner

John Brown was acquired by global media agency, Dentsu Aegis Network in 2015, and it became apparent to me that there was a significant gender imbalance within leadership roles. That lead me to spearhead a Growing Leadership of Women initiative (GLOW), to highlight what was an uncomfortable subject within the MENA region.

In 2016 I launched 365 Wear and Share – a year-long daily blog where I wore a different outfit each day and sold one item from it for $10 in aid of Save the Children. https://365wearandshare.wordpress.com/2016/01/01/2016-just-one-new-years-resolution/

In October 2015, I ran a one-day garden festival with live music, comedy, an auction and clothes sale in aid of Cancer Research and local UAE charity, Friends of Cancer, raising over AED 10,000. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/claire-england2

Active challenges

Despite not being particularly sporty in my youth I discovered a new love for active challenges in my forties. After recovering from cervical cancer in 2015 I began a new journey of mental and physical well-being which included a number of charity runs, triathlons, adventure races and swims.
